Customer challenge

Botany Group wanted to reduce energy consumption in its all-electric cucumber greenhouse without compromising crop growth or light output. At Wim Peters Kwekerijen, the goal was different: maximize available growth light within the existing power budget to support a stronger tomato crop and further optimize production performance.

Solution

Both growers used Philips GrowWise smart spectrum to automatically adjust the lighting spectrum based on real-time solar radiation. At Botany Group, the system prioritized energy-efficient spectra to reduce electricity use. At Wim Peters Kwekerijen, smart spectrum freed up energy for additional red growth light, leading to stronger crops while staying within the planned power budget.
