Operating in Dubai’s harsh desert climate, the grower faced challenges producing fresh leafy greens locally. High temperatures and water scarcity made traditional farming difficult, while importing fragile crops was inefficient and unsustainable. The challenge was to ensure consistent, year-round production of high-quality greens with precise control over climate, light levels and resource efficiency.
Solution
Bustanica, a large-scale vertical farm with 27 controlled grow rooms was equipped with Philips horticulture LED lighting and climate systems. Tailored light recipes enabled optimal plant growth, while ensuring energy efficiency and consistency. The modular setup allows precise control of temperature, humidity and light, supporting reliable year-round production of more than one million kilograms of leafy greens.
