Signify extends its Philips GrowWise control to enable remote precise spectral light steering and energy trading
Eindhoven, The Netherlands – Signify (Euronext: LIGHT), the world leader in lighting, proudly announces the launch of the updated Philips GrowWise control. This next-generation solution empowers growers with remote access to their lighting systems, offering real-time insights and centralized control across multiple greenhouses or locations. With enhanced functionality, GrowWise control not only improves operational efficiency but also opens the door for growers to participate in energy market trading, creating opportunities for additional revenue streams.
With the growing share of renewable energy like wind and solar, energy markets are becoming increasingly dynamic, causing more frequent grid imbalances. To support grid stability and to provide additional opportunities for energy trading to growers, the upgraded Philips GrowWise control allows growers to participate in Automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve (aFRR). This option is available for Benelux wireless GrowWise control customers only.
The established Philips GrowWise control has evolved into a powerful cloud-based application, giving growers full flexibility to manage their lighting strategies both locally and remotely. Whether overseeing a single greenhouse or multiple sites, users can easily access and adjust lighting schedules from anywhere, ensuring consistency and precision across operations. The intuitive recipe editor provides a clear overview of all active settings, enabling fast changes and saving valuable time. Seamless integration with leading climate computers and support for both wired and wireless configurations ensure robust performance. With role-based access control, growers can securely manage who can operate within this protected data environment.

Growers can continue to rely on the trusted features of Philips GrowWise control—now enhanced with new capabilities that advance lighting intelligence. A proven feature is precision lighting control, enabling growers to define exact set points for light spectrum and intensity, tailored to their crops’ needs—anytime, anywhere. This supports optimized growth, quality, and energy efficiency, while also providing clear insight into available power for participation in energy trading. The system delivers accurate light output per color (in micromoles per second) and maintains consistent spectral composition across all dimming levels.
“The robust on-site Philips GrowWise control system is already in use at over 750 customer sites worldwide,” says Udo van Slooten, Sales Leader for Philips Horticulture LED Solutions at Signify. “Its proven reliability gives growers the confidence to implement precise lighting strategies and explore participation in energy balancing services. With new intelligent features on the horizon and the potential of Philips GrowWise smart spectrum, growers will be able to optimize their lighting even further.”
Signify is committed to making lighting intelligence accessible. Growers can now benefit from knowledge-based algorithms, thus freeing up time, improving outcomes, and reducing costs. This innovation underscores Signify’s role as a reliable, collaborative, and forward-thinking leader in horticultural lighting, delivering progressive solutions that evolve with the industry’s needs.
