The Master Plan for Historical Downtown – Guadalajara
The Master Plan for Historical Downtown Guadalajara is a lighting strategy designed to improve and optimize the city’s urban spaces, through the application of light on buildings and sites with high historical and cultural value.

The project arose as a need not only to provide elements of identity and avant-garde, but to spark urban, social, economic and tourist development, emphasizing sustainability and environmental conservation, with the guiding concept of transforming architectural monuments into nighttime landmarks that preserve their essence and historical value with the application of cutting-edge technology.

Great efforts have been made to build a brand for the city of Guadalajara, and the results have exceeded expectations, forging a distinct identity for the “Pearl of the West.” The urban settings highlighted in this project show the world how we Tapatíos live our city, enjoy it, move through it, and build it on the basis of a vision that transcends – through light – all boundaries.

The levels of intervention in Historical Downtown Guadalajara are based on re-densification and sustainability goals that are aimed at launching Guadalajara as a cutting-edge downtown area known around the country and the world. From a lighting standpoint, the following 4 elemental levels are considered to make this possible

    • Culture
    • Tourism
    • Society
    • Sustainability
For the development of the Master Plan, 4 fundamental aspects were kept in mind at all times. This helped to ensure the comprehensive scope of the project, making it an engine for development that would move the city forward in the following areas: social cohesion, economic growth, sustainable development and cultural identity.
