Philips lighting introduces new GreenPower LED interlighting system

With greater efficacy and plug&play installation

    January 24, 2017

Eindhoven, The Netherlands – Philips Lighting, a global leader in lighting, introduces a new GreenPower LED interlighting system at this year’s IPM tradeshow Hall 3, Booth D81. It will boost high-wire yield during the darker periods of the year, since placing sideways-facing LEDs within the canopy focuses growth-stimulating light on the most vital part of the crop. Moreover, it will do this highly efficiently since it offers a system efficacy of 3.0 μmol/J.

The new GreenPower LED interlighting system comes with a plug&play connector that saves time and materials during installation. The complete system can also be easily lifted during installation by up to one meter, thanks to the flexible cable connection. It is possible to connect up to 33 interlighting modules with just one power connection to save time, materials needed and installation costs, with cost savings of up to 50%. In addition, the shape of the GreenPower LED interlighting module is designed to minimize maintenance.

Highest yield already proven in the field

Belgian tomato grower Tomaline has already signed up for the new GreenPower LED interlighting system for their new to be built 1 ha. greenhouse after seeing good results with peer-grower Herdi and the results that they had seen at Proefstation Hoogstraten with a record yield of 107 kg last season. “The very high light output of 220 μmol/s and resulting high efficacy of 2.8 μmol/J will give us exactly what we need to increase our yield,” said Kris van Haute co-owner of Tomaline. “The system comes as either a 2 meter or 2.5 meter version allowing us to tailor it to our specific situation and create a uniform light distribution right until the end of the row.”
Udo van Slooten, Managing Director Philips Horticulture LED Solutions says: “These latest innovations in horticultural lighting applications are a result of long-term collaboration between Philips Lighting and our customers across the world. By working closely with them, Philips specialists were able to identify exactly where improvements were needed. The result is that this latest offering provides greater ease of installation and a higher light efficacy resulting in higher yield”.
