Powerplants becomes certified Philips LED Horti Partner

Powerplants Australia and Philips are pleased to announce they are now official partners for Horticultural LED Lighting.  Powerplants made the relationship official by signing the partnership contract and agreement on Jan 29, 2014. The ceremony took place at the IPM fair in Essen Germany. Powerplants is pleased to market Philips Horticultural LED lighting products in Australia. Philips LED lighting offers high performance quality, sustainability benefits and short paybacks and promises to dominate the horticulture landscape.

Powerplants of Australia is a leading supplier of horticultural technical systems, greenhouse equipment and supplies. The company was conceived in 1994 by Carl van Loon, who was raised on a successful plant propagation nursery in Australia. Carl could see there was a need for technical expertise in the industry, and Powerplants was conceived from his understanding of what commercial greenhouse growers need to be successful.  Today the Powerplants team is led by Carl van Loon and Simon Gomme who joined the company in 2011 as joint Director. Carl and Simon together with the highly trained staff at Powerplants are dedicated to providing solutions to Australian growers with expertise and professional service. Powerplants is proud to have been honoured for many years with Australian Achiever Awards for Excellence in Customer Service.

Solid-state LED lighting offers a number of benefits to the horticulture industry, including increased yields, enabling earlier flowering, speeding up root growth/germination and enabling more economical use of space. LED lighting is also highly energy efficient, helping horticultural producers lower their electricity consumption, especially during high energy consumption periods.

Philips supports its partners in commercial projects and in field tests to find new light recipes for a wide variety of crops and applications. This is possible thanks to projects done in commercial greenhouses, by researchers and at Universities working together with plant physiologists from Philips. The innovative partnership program creates a knowledge base with a worldwide network, and it allows growers and researchers to work with a certified partner in their own region who is trained in engineering, light recipes and the methodology to create the best results. This unique cooperation among growers, partners, researchers and Philips guarantees the best possible light recipes for every growth situation.
