solar street light to decrease energy consumption and reduce our overall greenhouse gas emissions"
Juan Espadas, Mayor of Seville
The Seville City Council wanted to team up with Signify to implement a responsive lighting solution that would improve visibility, comfort and security - all through sustainable, LED solar street lights consuming zero watts from the grid.
The project involved the installation of 20 Philips SunStay luminaires around the park's perimeter. This all-in-one lighting solution uses solar power and combines a photovoltiac panel, charge controller, battery and LED all in one easy-to-install package.
With no cables, wiring and electrical cabinets, the luminaires are quicker to install and promote efficiency, profitability and sustainability for the city.
A motion sensor also detects when people are close, increasing the light level accordingly and lowering it again when no one is around.
The integrated, perceptive SunStay technology is giving citizen's peace of mind and allowing them to enjoy their city's natural beauty both day and night.
