Webinar: Virtual natural light for healthy work environments

Webinar on virtual natural light for healthy work environments available for viewing online

Humans are deeply social creatures and most of our interactions take place around light – be it daylight or a campfire, candles or electric lights. In antiquity, the value of natural light was widely recognized, but our lives have since gradually moved indoors, away from the sunlight. Philips and partner ILI are working to restore the balance by exploring innovations called Virtual Natural Lighting Solutions (VNLS).

In homes and workspaces, and in varied fields such as healthcare and education, the buildings we spend much of our time in give us insufficient access to natural light. Using a unique and scientific approach, Philips is exploring and implementing the use of novel virtual skylights and virtual windows to bring back the benefits of natural lighting. The effects are stunning.

This webinar shows how architects and designers can implement Virtual Skylights in their work, drawing inspiration from a hospital that is now using dynamic virtual natural light to adapt indoor lighting conditions to patients’ needs. We will also showcase the promise of this innovative technology by sharing the results of several ongoing research projects exploring the opportunities and challenges of Virtual Windows for the built environment.
