Luminous Talks – The Changing Room

This webinar is an introduction to the live event to be held at Parsons in New York in November, which will explore the dynamic potential of environments in which both natural and artificial forms of light activate interior space. This webinar expanded on The Changing Room’s theme and drawing on Brand’s expertise in the social implications of space. He spoke on how the post-industrial society is transforming the way we think about work and life and its concomitant emphasis on collaboration, sharing, social engagement, creativity and entrepreneurship.

 

During this webinar the speakers addressed changing dynamics in both living and working environments. They touched upon charting corresponding shifts in human behavior in order to gain a better understanding of the powerful implications of the skillful combination of both natural and artificial light sources in interior space. Ultimately explored how this dynamic application of light is shaping our increasingly flexible working and living environments was also addressed.

Reon Brand is Senior Research Director at Philips Group Design and he is responsible for translating foresight and socio-cultural insights into contexts and directions for innovation and business development.
Laura Taylor is Design Director for Innovation at Philips Lighting. It is her passion to apply design thinking and creativity to create meaningful new applications of light.
