Better lighting stimulates productivity and entrepreneurship. But Lighting Lives can only have a long-term impact if communities have the skills to operate and maintain the lighting installation provided.
We help people take ownership of lighting solutions by offering them technical training around our systems. As a result, they become less dependent on external agencies in the long-term.
In addition to this technical training, the Philips Lighting Foundation helps entrepreneurs develop their business skills. We train local people to become proficient in various aspects of the access-to-light value chain, from lighting distribution to post-delivery maintenance. By delivering training in light maintenance and business, we give entrepreneurs the skills they need to become independent.
