This innovative work has been developed to become a legacy for the city of Montreal and its citizens.
Loosely inspired by the history of Montreal, Cité Mémoire invites Montrealers and visitors to meet characters who have witnessed the city's evolution first-hand. Poetic, dreamlike and occasionally playful, the tableaux come alive with images, words and music. Projected throughout Old Montreal, the work appears on the very walls that surround us, the ground on which we walk and the trees that frame our present. The creation is available every evening at dusk.
Cité Mémoire is composed of some 20 tableaux (19 in 2016 and four more in 2017 to mark the city’s 375th anniversary) that include images, dialogue and music. These works of art are projected on the walls, in the alleys, on the ground and on the trees of the historic district.
