Caudry is a historic centre near Cambrai, with a rich industrial history most notably in the field of textiles, tulles, lace and embroidery. Today the main industry of Caudry is still the production of very fine lace, under the name of Lace of Calais, to be used by haute couture designers. The industrial heritage of Caudry has taken its toll on certain parts of the city, and in these areas lighting can provide an injection of beauty. In this case two luminaires from the Metronomis 1 and Metronomis 2 families have been employed to refurbish a parking lot and a former industrial wasteland. The choice of a decorative modern luminaire in a conventional urban setting deliberately lifts the quality impression of the whole area. The two luminaires provide both functional performance of pedestrian and road lighting at different heights. Soft white light with good colour properties is provided by the MASTER Colour CDM-T and SON-T Comfort lamps.
